How to Take Off Demonic Labels: A Practical Guide to Renewing Your Identity in Ha'Mashiach

Updated: Mar 16

In a previous teaching I posted on YouTube, we discussed the labels, lies, and tares that the enemy has sown into your soul. These are not just negative thoughts — they are spiritual assignments designed to keep you bound. Now it is time to take them off. Below are five practical, Ruach-led steps to help you begin the process of walking in the truth of who Yah says you are.
Step 1 - Identify the Label
Begin by narrowing down and confronting the negative self-talk that your inner critic continues to rehearse in your mind. This is a deeply mindful task. When you have accepted a lie as truth, you think nothing of it when you hear it or speak it-it simply feels normal. It is time to confront that.
Ask yourself: What type of unbiblically founded self-talk do I reiterate within myself?
Common examples of demonic labels include:
◦ I'm not good enough
◦ I'm not capable
◦ I'm too ugly
◦ I'm not worthy
◦ I'll never be able to...
◦ I'm just like my ____ (claiming negative traits or behaviors from parents or ancestors)
Step 2 - Forgive Those Who Applied the Labels
Forgive the person or people who used their mouths as swords and tornados -speaking and applying ungodly labels over your life. This is not optional. Unforgiveness creates an open door that gives the enemy legal access to your soul.
Understand this: the real enemy is Satan. People choose to be vessels of honor or dishonor, of light or darkness. Many who wounded you were themselves wounded -projecting their own traumas, insecurities, and shortcomings onto you, especially when you were a vulnerable child. Forgiveness does not excuse their actions; it frees you.
Matthew 6:14-15 (NKJV): "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV): "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
John 10:10 (KJV): "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
Step 3 - Search the Word and Reinforce Your Identity
For every lie the enemy has planted, there is a written truth in the Word of Yah that dispels it. Search the Scriptures and replace each label with the identity Ha'Mashiach has given you. Do not merely reject the lie - replace it with the truth.
"You'll never change..." "Therefore, if anyone is in HaMashiach, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
"You'll never amount to anything..." "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Adon, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." -Jeremiah 29:11
"You'll never accomplish anything..." "I can do all things through HaMashiach who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
"You're ugly. You're a screw-up..." "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." - Psalm 139:14
Step 4 - Take Authority
You have been given authority in the name of Yahshuah. Use it. Renounce, denounce, and break every tie with the demonic labels you came into agreement with. Speak His truth out loud. Declare the identity that He gave you — not the one others assigned to you.
This is not merely positive thinking - this is spiritual warfare. You are taking back ground that the enemy has occupied through words, wounds, and agreements.
Step 5 - Evict the Lies and Embrace Yah's Truth Daily
Deliverance is not a one-time event - it is sustained through daily practice. Speak, pray, read, and write His Word over your life. Create scriptural affirmations tailored specifically to the labels you have carried. Lean into Abba Yah's love and discover the depths of His will for your life.
When the enemy attempts to remind you of those old labels:
• Cast down those vain imaginations immediately - do not allow them past the gate of your mind.
•Remind the enemy of his future — he is already defeated.
• Exercise your authority and stand firm in who you are in Yah.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV): "...casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Yah, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of HaMashiach."
Revelation 20:10 (NKJV): "The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone... And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."
Your True Identity
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." — 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
